By Mike Ouellette, Let Us Entertain You Inc. My father, Bill, started the business in Ozone Park, Queens, in 1976 and moved it to Massapequa in 1994; we’ve been part of more than 3,000 events. Updated October 2026.

Short answer: Before you book a Long Island wedding DJ, ask who will actually play your wedding, whether they also MC, what’s included in the hours, how ceremony and cocktail-hour sound works, what happens if something fails, and whether you can read recent reviews from real couples. Book as soon as you have your venue and date; peak Saturdays go first.

The 12 questions to ask

QuestionWhy it matters
1. Who will DJ our wedding, by name? Some companies send whoever is free that night. You want to meet the person on the microphone.
2. Are you also the MC?The MC runs grand entrances, toasts and the timeline. A great DJ who won’t talk on the mic leaves a gap.
3. How many hours are included, and what does an extra hour cost?Quotes look different mostly because hours differ.
4. Is ceremony and cocktail-hour sound included?A ceremony in a garden or separate room needs its own speakers and microphones.
5. Is dance-floor lighting included?Lighting changes how full the dance floor feels.
6. How do we plan the music?Ask about must-play and do-not-play lists, special songs and how they handle requests.
7. Have you worked at our venue, or will you visit it?Load-in, power and sound rules vary by venue. If they haven’t been there, ask whether they’ll check the space first.
8. Do you carry liability insurance? Most Long Island venues require a certificate of insurance from every vendor.
9. What’s the backup plan if equipment or a DJ fails? You want spare equipment on site and a team that can cover an emergency.
10. Can you also do photo booths, a 360 booth or photography? One team means one contract, one contact and one timeline.
11. What’s the deposit, and is there a written contract?Get the date, hours, services and price in writing.
12. Where can we read recent reviews?Recent reviews from real couples tell you more than a demo video.

How far ahead should you book a Long Island wedding DJ?

As soon as you have your venue and date. Saturdays in peak wedding season book first; Fridays, Sundays and off-season dates are easier to get. If your date is close, it’s still worth asking.

How we answer these questions

  • Who plays your wedding: our family team. Bill still DJs events himself, and I work alongside him.
  • MC: yes, your DJ is also your MC and runs the timeline.
  • Price: wedding packages (DJ + photography + live photo screens) start at $3,000; DJ & MC starts at $2,500. See what changes the price.
  • One team: DJ/MC, photography, open-air photo booth, 360 video booth and live photo screens.
  • Reviews: 5.0 on Google. Read them here.
