Wedding DJ at Flowerfield & The Watermill: A Couple’s Guide

We’ve played many weddings at Flowerfield in St. James and The Watermill in Smithtown. Here’s what to think about for music, the ceremony, cocktail hour and photo booths at each.

Flowerfield · St. James

Flowerfield, St. James

Flowerfield (199 Mills Pond Road) sits on more than 12 acres.

Its best-known features are the Gazebo Island ceremony site, reached by a wooden bridge, an Atrium of more than 14,000 sq ft with a koi pond, and a Grand Ballroom with a mahogany dance floor.

Entertainment planning for Flowerfield

  • Ceremony sound on Gazebo Island. Outdoor ceremonies need their own sound: wireless microphones for your officiant and readers, and speakers set up at the ceremony site, separate from the ballroom system. Plan your processional and recessional songs with us ahead of time.
  • Cocktail hour in the Atrium. Cocktail hour often happens in a different space from the reception, so ask us about music there while we finish setting up the ballroom.
  • Photo booth placement. Ask your coordinator where a booth can go. A booth near cocktail hour gets used right away, while one by the dance floor keeps the energy going later.
  • Your timeline. Moving guests from the ceremony to the Atrium to the ballroom takes cues. As your MC, we coordinate each move with the venue staff and your photographer.

The Watermill · Smithtown

The Watermill, Smithtown

The Watermill (711 Smithtown Bypass) hosts weddings in several named ballrooms.

They include the Vanderbilt Room (about 5,900 sq ft), Astor, Carnegie, Newporter and Bostonian, and there is a Garden Chapel for ceremonies.

Entertainment planning for The Watermill

  • Know your room. Your ballroom’s size and layout decide where the DJ, dance floor and booth go. Tell us which room you’ve booked and we’ll plan around it.
  • Ceremony in the Garden Chapel. We can provide ceremony music and microphones for your officiant, then move to the reception.
  • Venue packages. The Watermill offers vendor packages through its preferred vendors. If you’d like to bring us in, ask the venue about its policy for outside entertainment.
  • Live photo screens. In a larger room, screens showing guests’ photos keep everyone connected to the moment.
